Friday, January 18th

Looking Back:
Thank you to all students for demonstrating patience during todays very chilly Fire Alarm.

Math:
  • Ordering and comparing fractions and decimals 
  • Converting improper fractions to mixed numbers and vice versa
  • Review of calculating area of a rectangle and surface area
  • Multiplication of decimal numbers
  • Test on fractions, decimals and percent
Science:
  • Air and Aerodynamics vocabulary and meanings
  • Aerodynamics in sport and life 
  • The importance of aerodynamics represented through art - Mattisse style
Health:
  • Olympians conquering adversity
  • Positive self talk to support working hard and doing our best when things get tough
Humanities:
  • Read first three chapters of class novel, Children of the Longhouse.   Students created images or symbols and wrote a "1$" sentences to summarize key points from each chapter. 
  • Revisited note taking strategies to create 'cheat sheet' for unit quiz (in Feb)
  • Vocabulary : Clan, Clan Mother, Chief/Hoyaneh, The Great Law of Peace, Wampum
French: 
  • Continuation with practicing oral language through games 
  • Les étudiants vont apprendre et joué à un jeu, "Ding-Dong", "As-tu commande une pizza?"

  • Artist statement for "Importance of Aerodynamics"
  • Bernoulli's Principle

Humanities: 
  • Continue class novel study, Children of the Longhouse.  Students will read along and create images or symbols and "1$" sentences with key points from chapters 4-8. 
  • Vocabulary: Grand Council, 'The Three Sisters', Collective Identity, United Nations, Historical Maps/Political Maps (flip card), Hiawatha , War Chief/Pine Chief (flip card)
  • Share study guides/cheat sheets.
  • Looking for parallels between the government structure of Haudenosaunee and Ancient Athens through four Pillars of democracy.
Health:
  • Creating inspiring quotes/mantras - Photos
French: 
  • Food Bingo
  • practice conversations "What did you do last night?" / "Qu'est-ce que tu as fait hier soir?"
CTF:
  • Presentation of sessions offered second round
  • Choosing top 4 choices for second round
  • Second round starts Jan 28th
