What a busy week! Thank you for all the hard work and creativity this week!
- Novel Study:
- Students reading the Giver or City of Ember should complete reading Chapters 6 and 7 over the weekend (please don't read ahead).
- Students reading Among The Hidden, please read chapters 11, 12 and 13 and write the two paragraphs explaining two possible solutions to the main problem that your group discussed.
- Examining how decisions are made at the community and municipal level as well as the Services provided by local government. Students were asked to bring in a sticky note with a list of ten Services they use almost every day.
- Students are revisiting the three highlighted purposes of government (fulfil needs through access to services, lead and organize, protect all rights and freedoms)
- Home Journals - This week's home journal will be a little different, as they do not have to follow the usual criteria. They have been asked to research a city comparable to the one they have been constructing in class. See below for homework details.

For Homework
- Reflect on the process of building your house, neighbourhood and deciding on features. In your Home Journals, please list the five or six steps they have gone through so far in this task. Start with: #1.) we were all given the same amount of land (green paper)

2 ~ What should we name it? Why?

- Complete the $1 sentence that summarizes all 5 chapters. This is one sentence that included all chapters, NOT one sentence for each (think 'theme' not retelling specific details).
- Bring in any supplies like small boxes, stickers, popsicle sticks, plasticine, etc that you think would help you with the next steps of your 'City Planning' and building.
