Friday, April 12th

Looking Back: 

Math:
- Test on:
  • Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, and Dividing multi digit decimal numbers
  • Factors, Greatest Common Factor (GCF) and Prime Factorization
  • Multiples and Lowest Common Multiple (LCM)
- Integers - all work due Monday, April 15th
- Estimations for rocks and beads due Monday, April 15th

Humanities:
- Novel Study - We finish reading our dystopian novels and have written 'alternative endings' to be finished for homework along with the completed 10 tasks from throughout the study.
- We will continue editing our stories.  Students will continue working with their stories using the narrative rubric from Alberta Ed with a focus on the first three elements: "Organization", "Vocabulary" and "Sentence Structure".
- The City Council of our city has met and discussed next steps for our city.  The delegation of responsibilities via departments and the building begins Monday.
- Vocabulary - CAO, MLA, Cabinet, Cabinet Minister

For Homework, due Monday:
LA: If not completed in class, finish alternative ending and touch up tasks (pages) 1-11 in novel study notebook
Home Journal, with a focus on 'best' conventions (COPS) and format
SocSt: Complete Research on Political Parties and candidates

Science:
- Minutes of Daylight Around the World (Responses, Chart and Graph due Monday, April 15th)
- Our First Mission (Responses due Monday, April 15th) - secret word is Pluto
- Phases of the Moon project - Those whose dates are April 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th will present Monday, April 15th

Looking Forward:

Math:
- Algebra
- Graphing review
- Integers review
- BEDMAS review
- PAT Part A practice

Humanities:
- Novel Study - Share alternative endings from the novel study for peer editing
- Divisions or Departments will plan and build according to the Mayors directions
- Student Vote - We will share our research on the political parties involved in the upcoming provincial election and on the candidates running in our province as well as our local candidates
- As part of the over 1500 students province wide, students will participate and cast their vote in the 'Studentvote' day on Monday.
- Vocabulary: Continue with CAO, MLA, Cabinet, Cabinet Minister

Science:
- Planets
- Constellations

  • Mondays - open gym for Grades 5/6 at lunch

  • Friday, April 19th - Good Friday (no school)
  • Monday, April 22nd - PD Day (no school for students)
